Introduction to Engineering Experimentation, Third Edition provides a broad introduction to experimentation and data analysis in engineering. It includes the basics of designing experiments, analyzing data, presenting results and drawing valid conclusions. Topics covered include review of basic statistics, single and multiple variable linear regression, model building and selection, experimental design and analysis, measurement of noise and uncertainty in measurements. Extensive use of Microsoft Excel is used throughout.

The third edition has been reorganized and updated to reflect the feedback received from using the book in class and from readers around the world. The first part of the book now covers single variable linear regression only. The chapters on multiple linear regression have been moved to Part II which now contains four chapters covering multiple linear regression, model building, selecting a model and experimental design. Each chapter in Part II contains detailed coverage of the key topics as well as many examples illustrating the applications. The material on experimental design has been expanded to cover both randomized block designs (RBD) and factorial designs (FD). A new chapter on uncertainty quantification includes a discussion on how noise affects experimental measurements as well as common techniques for estimating uncertainty in measurements.
